Spa 24 Hour Race Report

For the final endurance event of the year, we decided to mix things up and run the LMP2 — a bit of a change of pace and, honestly, we weren’t expecting too much. On top of that, we were only two-manning the full 24 hours, and the race started at 6 PM GMT instead of our usual early-morning 7 AM slot (which we definitely prefer now 😂).
Qualifying & Split
Qualified P7 in a 2.4k SOF
Slotted into Second Split, so the field was strong and competitive
Early Race Drama
Mark took the start for a change and held position well throughout the opening stint. Unfortunately, near the end of that stint he was taken out by another LMP2 forcing his way through, wiping out our front end and handing us a 7-minute meatball. We dropped to last place, 3 laps down, and morale was… let’s just say not great.
But we reminded ourselves the whole point of doing this one was FUN — something different to end the year — so we pushed on.
Recovery & Night Stints
Around 4–5 hours in, heading into the darker phases of the race, we’d already clawed back several positions and gained big chunks of time on the cars ahead.
The night stints were absolute chaos. Half the time it felt more like crash-avoidance than racing, with traffic doing all sorts of questionable things. But by staying calm, clean, and damage-free, we came out of the night — around the 16-hour mark — running P5, with P4 and P3 both within a lap.
We kept the pressure on and secured both positions over the next few hours, settling nicely into P3.
A Surprise Twist
We were more than happy holding P3, but endurance racing always has surprises. The team in P2 had a moment that cost them 6–7 minutes of repairs, dropping their lap-and-a-half buffer over us. Suddenly, we were promoted into P2 with just 4 hours to go.
From there, the mission was simple:
Stay out of the walls
Keep it clean
Avoid penalties
Bring it home
And that’s exactly what we did.
Final Result
We finished the Spa 24 Hours in P2 in Second Split — our best-ever result in a 24-hour race as MKR Esports, made even more special considering it was just the two of us, and we came back from being three laps down after an early incident.
A truly spectacular way to end the endurance year.
